I'd probably befriend them. While the governments make stupid mistakes, I'd hang out with the aliens. Usually the governments start the conflicts in the movies.

I would go get all of my friends, find a cave, set up my forge and make weapons for people while they protect my cave, by the time the war ended I would be rich. Using my richness I would go and buy myself one of our brand new spaceships courtesy of the aliens, and then I would blow up pluto.
