Vampre or lycan?
Re: Vampire or Lycan?
@ Marth: Stay away from the "Vampire Vs. Werewolf" discussion in AEF then - the number of posts related to Twilight ruining the vampire genre is endless.
@ Dai: Lol, you practically just summed it all up.
@ Altera: Mhmm, I know what you mean by the formula. Then again, I suppose it can be attributed to the fact that audiences do enjoy sticking to "the usual" - the ancient Greek tragic cycle, for example, follows the same structure for many of their plays and yet audiences are still drawn to them. Same must apply now, I guess.

Hellsing Ultimate is indeed Ultimate.
First one on the list (written in bold letters because that's how awesome it is) for my Anime Club's Vampire Theme night :D
(Trinity Blood and Chibi Vampire are also there in normal font)

Re: Vampire or Lycan?
It seems we are way outnumbered by the Vampires. This is disappointing to the highest degree. Oh well, we'll get some real numbers when the voting goes up from only 30 people.

Re: Vampire or Lycan?
I prefer the Vurdalak (Vampire) over the Oborotnyk (werewolf) anyday. I just don't see the point in being a mindless beast running around. In traditional folklore, werewolves were human and changed into stupid creatures seeking flesh during a full moon, just to change back. I prefer maintaining control over myself.

Re: Vampire or Lycan?
Xusha, is Vurdalak Romanian for Vampire?
Anyway, I'm not in the mood to have a discussion about which is better, considering they both have their ups and downs.
Meh, I'll make a graph anyway (Mood swings FTW).
Vampires
Pros
-Have total control
-Do not arouse too much suspicion due to similar appearance to humans.
Cons
-Sun kills them
-Garlic is harmful
-Stakes are a more effective weapon against them
-Not as strong as Werewolves
Werewolves
Pros
-Extremely strong
-Extremely fast
-Travel in packs, making hunting prey easier
Cons
-Have absolutely no control in Werewolf form
-Only can transform during full moons
-Tend to leave more evidence during murders
'Tis all in good fun.

Signatures are unnecessary. I believe you can clearly see who posted this message to the right in the box. And I guess you can call this statement ironic. Oh well...

Re: Vampire or Lycan?
Alas, I saw this topic coming... Anyways, I prefer Vampires because of majority of things.
Vampire:
Pros:
-Immortality
-Red eyes (I've read too many vampire books/topics and from what I've read they seemed to talk about their eyes too... P.S I'll never will read Twilight, hmph.)
-The Italian-like clothes (I'm Italian and I happen to like suits but don't own any yet...)
-The fangs (I have no clue why I like fangs so much o_o)
Cons:
-Having to sleep in a coffin (I just don't like coffins. <.<)
-All of those Twilight fan boys and girls... Hmph.
-Can not go out in day light
That's pretty much all I got to say... For now...

I believe the Romanian word for werewolf is "Bitang", and I do believe "Vurdalak" is the word for Vampire. The "Wawkalak" Is a werewolf changed by punishment of the Devil, who cannot harm friends or neighbors. Oborotnyk (Changing One) is a word for all werecreatures, not including the Vampire. I think Russian words are throwback from the Romanian legend, but I may be wrong.

Re: Vampire or Lycan?
Another reason for vampires;
*They wear suits
*I am BUNNICULA
*Agility over brawl
*They actually have brain power.
Heck,werewolves can't complete a two piece puzzle.

Re: Vampire or Lycan?
Romanian questions are to be directed to me, as the only (known) Romanian-Transilvanian here...
Vampire in romanian is Vampir (Vam-peer)
Werewolves do not exist in Romanian stories though... odd!
Originally the Vampires took the form of Drakul (Drak-ool)
These are basically red skinned, sharp tooth demons that eat humans...
and drink blood...
Very devious too...
and are basically the sterotypical bad-guy...
Also, I would like to add some info about werewolves!
Not all of them lose control, that is mainly attributed to the movie versions, in some legends there are humans that shift into werewolves and retain full control!
Please don't type whole paragraphs all in caps.
