Fort Regulars

Journal of Peregrine, 5th Opal, 264, Mid-Winter.

With the coming of winter, the mood in the fort has grown darker.

Our new mayor, a dwarf named Alath Ageshlitast, and the wife of Erik commissioned the construction of some bismuth bronze goods. Unfortunately, there was a problem. We had no bismuth bronze with which to forge the goods. We tried to explain the situation to her, but it was of no use. She commissioned an execution as punishment for our non-compliance.

She had Grey, the captain of the guard, carry out the execution of her own husband: Alderos.

At first, we thought we could just get rid of Alath and be done with it, but instead Grey proceeded to beat her own husband to death. Alderos is dead now, buried in the catacombs of Fort Regulars with the other three who've died. Vamp, who was good friends with Alderos, says this isn't going to stand. In the meantime, we've started planning the construction of a memorial for Alderos. He was an important member of the community and we don't intend to have him be unappreciated. Hopefully we'll have finished it by my next journal entry.

In the mean time, we're all confined to the fort interior. The goblin presence in the area has increased drastically, and all the soldiers save for Vamp are busy fighting them off. So far, the only death on our side has been a kitten.

That's all for now. I don't know what Vamp has planned for avenging the death of Alderos, but I do know this much: I plan to help him.
