Rydrews adventure

Things went from bad to worse in an instant.

Stumbling around the cavern, Rydrew was having a terrible time keeping his balance. He felt something rub up against his chain greaves, causing a slight clatter in the room.

"And now, for the finale", said someone next to him

Rydrew knew it was Khayyin. He pleaded, "Hang on to me, brother paladin. My vision is impaired!"

"So it seems..."

A large force pushed against Rydrew's back, sending him falling forward. Although he tried to regain his footing, he had to give up his attempt when he felt no ground under him anymore.

And so, he fell and fell, farther into the abyss during which he could pay no witness to.


It was a hard landing, but he didn't expect the sudden force to hit him in the shoulder. Bewildered by the turn of events, he was helpless in the dark where he felt that he was sprawled against a rock. Heat seared past his head, and he felt a sudden warmth from the air around him.

Grabbing into his leather bag, strapped to his waist, he searched for Eyedrops. He needed his vision back now!

Success! By applying the ointment he was back in the land of the seeing. However, upon looking around, he wished he had stayed blind...

It seemed as though he had landed on Hell's doorstep. what he thought had been a rock that he landed on was, in reality, a chain of stone islands leading through the magma in the cavern. This boiling soup surrounded a large structure that was impossible to identify all the heat shimmers blocking his field of vision.

Looking down, he gasped; His armor was gone! The only thing still left on his body was the apprentice robe he received the day he became a Paladin, and the leather satchel still hooked onto his tanned leather belt.

He looked to see if some of his items were simply strewn around the rock. Rydrew found his claymore embedded in the rock a few feet away, but to his dismay, his shield was in the process of melting in the red sea.

About to grab his sword, a voice rang out like a trumpet of heaven.

"Young Paladin! Your conviction is now being tested."

Rydrew was shocked. Was this the voice of the Sacred Warrior of Lore?

The voice continued, "Take thy sword, and journey back to the surface. You must face an unspeakable evil there that threatens the Kingdom of Battleon itself."

The paladin thought for a moment. "You don't mean Khayyin, do you, oh Great One?"

"The man you know as Khayyin is imprisoned in his own mind. Now, only the magister Ulrich controls the actions of this once faithfull Paladin. You must find a way to free your friend and vanquish the evil wizard."

Rydrew was worried. Then, he thought of his friends that where with him. "What happened to the my other brothers at arms that traveled with us?"

"You will find allies along your journey. Many of your Brethren are experiencing the same predicament you find yourself in. Even as we speak, they are seeking each other out and looking for a way back.

Rydrew, carry forth. You now have your mission, and your blade and faith will guide you to your goal. Do not falter, and may the way of the light lead you to salvation!"

And with that, the voice was gone. Rydrew grabbed his blade and began to hop across the islands on his path back to the surface world.
