Sun Jan 10, 2010 10:23 am by V
With all the rank requests recently, I thought I'd make a central thread where they could all be requested.
Costs of ranks:
Custom Rank 7,500 Points
Colored/Bolded Rank 15,000 Points

Original or Remake?
Original versus Remake
You've probably seen a movie before. You've grown up watching these movies, and then you hear that since it was such a hit, they are going to remake it. How do you feel about remakes? Do they tribute the original, or try to merely drain money from helpless fans? Does the modernization actually surpass the originals? Well, that's for you to decide.

Re: Original versus Remake
Well... If you ask me, in most cases the remakes are made for an easy profit, basing on the originals popularity, this extends to movies made from games, or movies made from Anime (The DBZ movie is a perfect example of this... seriously, it was awful)
This is not to say all remakes are bad, Oceans Eleven is a remake of a 1960 film and yet despite being a remake, the newer one went on to make over 5 times its orginal budget in profit, a clear sucess.
Finally, this rule can also cross over to parodys, while some of them are purely idiotic (Not Another Teen Movie) Others have had rather high sucess rates such as Scary Movie.
Lastly, its important to remember how Remakes are often viewed, the people who hear about it will often:
Remember the original that they liked/disliked and base their opinions of the remake on their experiences. This also deciding whether a film will be remade or not, a company may choose to remake a poor movie based on its reviews, hoping to make something sucessful that despite negative anticipations, may garner positive reviews based on commercials and word of mouth. Or simply make a low budget remake of a previously succesful movie and gain profits on the idea that people will watch it purely due to its successors fame.
These are extremes however, and in the end a remake of a film is simply another film, whether it suceeds or not is based solely on its actors, writers, directors, and budget.

Re: Original versus Remake
90% of the time the original, in my opinion, proves better. Remakes change all of the original scenes and acting that everyone loved so much. Some examples that I base this off of:
Willy Wonka Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- Original
Alice in Wonderland- Original
Xusha, I suggest removing the Waffle option or at least making it stand for something, otherwise this discussion will get no real input for the sake of people wanting to be funny.
