First off, welcome to TR!
You get them with points, which you can see the amount of under your avatar and post count. You can see them Here and request by going to the thread, which can be reached by clicking "adopt".
You get a few points every time you post, but the main source of points is by going to TR Cons. A good example of the results of one is Here. Another way to get points is by opening a shop in one of the approved sections of the art gallery.

Also, use This to get to the "art village" which continues on to roleplay, art, and the word gallery (Storys, poems, etc.). Each one has an approval process to create your own section, or to join in on roleplay. Beginner roleplay is free though, and can be entered at any time. Nice to have you in TR!
