The 100 Best Comedies of All Time

Post by Darre on Fri Mar 11, 2011 10:28 pm

Sometimes you got just give critics and professionals a royal shove and leave it to real people to do the job. So CollegeHumor the american Comedy group has compiled a list of the greatest comedy movies of all time.

LINKBLAMO!

Great list. Look. Read. Return to TR. And discuss/flame your heart out.

Being a diehard Comedy genre watcher, I am glad to say that the list was pretty awesome. I've seen 90% of the movies, with seeing the top 10 about 50-60 times each.

Same.

But.

Christmas Vacation needs to be way higher. Seriously, how can you place that below Home Alone?

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Robin Hood: Men in Tights and Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle need to be higher, too.

Im dissapointed in the top films, the really funny ones are mid to bottom, tops are just idiot movies.
This would say something about society

The top ones are great if you're taking the stick out of your butt and just want to laugh about something without thinking about political correctness or whatever.

I agree 100% with DigDog. However 99% of the voting audience is probably Americans aged 16-25, so you have to take that into consideration.

I adore this movie, just saying.

Also, I expected Blazing Saddles to be a bit higher, but I do agree with the Hangover being up there.

Its not a stick out of your butt situation, It's not like... political correctness, while I do find some blue and more crude humor amusing, a lot of these films just have... idiotic content. Its so stupid that it stops being funny.

Never seen #6, or #8, but so far reading the top 10 I like the results. Though I would put Austin Powers and Waynes World over Spaceballs. I like ones that have made it, I just disagree on the order of some. Oh, and 65 is NOT funny.

I realise now that I haven't seen enough films from the comedy genre (being a war/western/sci-fi film buff as well as the genre being somewhat ruined for me by Adam Sandler appearing to be in almost every single comedy whenever I decide to watch the weekend movies) but Blazing Saddles, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure should be higher.

By the way if you don't like the list, spend maybe 10-20 minutes (if you're really peaved and can last that long) on the list page. Click the "VOTE" button and vote your face off. Spending an hour of straight voting can actually change the position of something on the list.

There are 6 Jim Carrey Movies, 4 Mike Myers Movies and 2 Monty Python Movies on the list. Therefore it is a good list...

Well clearly they're not so stupid that it stops being funny because they're some of the highest rated.

Stupidity has not much to do with the ability of enjoying a funny movie. The top 10 are the top 10 because they're really funny movies. I watched them and I'd vote them very high too, and I'm far away from "... less intelligent...".

Ive seen all of the top ten movies except Monty Python (although from what few clips ive seen, it IS funny)
Out of those films, the only good ones besides Python is the 40 Year old virgin and perhaps happy Gilmore, the rest are just idiotic. (especially Superbad and the Hangover)
