Re: Japan's Tsunamis

83-year-old Miyako resident Tami Akanuma believes her 12-year-old shih tzu Babu saved her from certain doom by intentionally leading her away from the tsunami that eventually engulfed her city.

Akanuma told Yomiuri Shimbun that Babu, who demanded they go for a walk as soon as the earthquake struck, “stubbornly headed for a nearby hill rather than taking their usual route.” Upon climbing the hill, Akanuma turned around and was stunned to discover that “[m]ost of the route she and Babu had walked had been swallowed up by the tsunami and her home had been consumed by the wall of muddy water.”
