I wrote a pretty poem in class, but if im gonna post it here im gonna have to go find it...

IT TOOK ME A MONTH BUT I GOT ONE!

There once was a girl with a sword,
only it was made of cardboard.
She ran left and right,
sacring all the boys in sight,
sept now that its broken she's bored.

True story, there.

Ewwww....... raw oysters? I don't even eat COOKED oysters. *GROSS!!!*

Here is a powm I wrote, If youve not heard it already....

THE PORCELIN DOLL

Sitting on the shelf,
all keeping to herself,
Her hair falls over her eyes,
noone can see the tear she cries.
All alone in her place,
As the shadows cross her face,
The scarrs of yesterday still there,
she sits and waits for somone to care.
All the children take her down,
and beat her round and round,
for they hated her stright face,
as if she never had her place,
Play rough with her they do,
and all along she knew,
if she was taken away,
from her place she always lay,
It would end her tomorrow, and yesterday.
So now the doll is broken,
and she'd never even spoken,
to those children down below.

Re: Poems

Post by vorn on Mon Apr 20, 2009 4:13 am

this was originally a school project, but i embellished it and submitted it into our school literature magazine... o and its about world war one...

All is White in the Dark
~
Swimming through serpentine troughs,
The light lace of Lady Winter
Nips like a knife at the noses
Of the sleeping soldiers, later
To rest in beds of roses.

Cold nights spent cowering, covered
In the licks and looks of Hell.
Why do the poor sons mothered
By Death, despise the sight and smell
Accompanying his Angel with amice alabaster?

In her tresses the terrible minions
Of all that man regrets,
All incurred on millions.
The cloud of yellow slumber sets
On those The Mistress waits on.

No man can turn away from her hands;
No man can wind or wrench.
The Great War carries these fighters, and
They soar above the stench
Of battle, till spring reigns there again.
~

Not bad! Keeping working at it, it has potential for greatness.

poetry anyone?

Post by Chiyuki on Sat Apr 25, 2009 11:35 am

I don't know if this is the right place to post a poem, if it isn't does anyone know where I should put it?

anyway...I don't think I'm that good at poetry but here goes >.>

I AM ME!

What am I you ask?

When you first take a glance
I am a normal girl
I wear a blue sweater, a plaid skirt and saddle shoes.
When you first take a glance
I am a normal girl

I am a mighty eagle
My heart belongs to the sky
No cage can hold me
No chains are strong enough to bind me
And very soon I will spread my great wings and fly
I am and eagle, and my heart belongs to the sky.

I am a goddess of fire.
My soul glows with courageous flames
And my heart burns with valor
Try as you might to put me out
My fiery spirit will never be quelled
I shall live forever
For I am a goddess of fire

I am a beam of sunlight
I dance and sparkle as I cast out darkness
I am a ray of hope
I am light
I am a beam of sunlight

I am a human being
I laugh and cry
I dance and sing
I am a human being
I AM ME!

well, hope someone likes it. oh, and the plaid skirt and saddle shoes bit is talking about my school uniform xD just in case anyone was wondering

And yes, I also think this could be made to be a little more obvious. However, Vamp has it organized like this.

Oh, and good poem. It's very uplifting.

Re: Poems

Post by Juliana on Mon May 04, 2009 11:33 am

Poems? Hmm, I wrote a few poems about a year ago, but I think I can write a better one right now.

Insubstantial

A hundred places
A thousand faces
A million ways to fall

I'm lonely, dreaming
They're cold, hard, scheming
But I'm not here at all

I live for the night
They love the daylight
Yet I'm brighter than they

A mind escaping
Patiently waiting
For blesséd end of day

Now all is quiet
I am queen of it
Only now do I wake

From half-existence
That in my silence
Is the solace I take

There, that's a more optimistic outlook than I can usually fit a poem around. For some reason, rhyme and meter seem to come more naturally to me when I'm melancholy, whereas my brighter moods lend themselves more readily to prose or occasionally freeverse.

Re: Poems

Post by Juliana on Tue May 12, 2009 8:14 am

I've got three poems that I unearthed on my laptop. I wrote the first two about a year ago, and the last one about... I think maybe last October or thereabouts.

This first one is about the time I was abused in school.
Three Months

A torture unheard of, which I must survive.
Am I now the only one still alive?
Three months.
I am not ready for what this might be.
Are they all robots, all those around me?
Three months.
Lost and confused, can’t remember my name.
Was there ever even a reason I came?
Three months.
There is no convincing reason to stay.
Blundering, self locked away, through the pain…
Three months.
I know all of this is just in my own mind.
That doesn’t change that this is a difficult time.
Three months.
Four years later, there is one reason why
I have this lingering loneliness inside:
Those three months.

The second one is about going back and looking at a website I used to be on, and feeling hurt because of what I experienced there.
To The Cyber-Bully
From the girl formerly known as Maplefoot

I’m feeling lost, alone, and hated
Because I always seemed to be slated
For a new taunt, a tease, a lie
Those things you do should be a crime.

Did you know why I believe so hard
In an impossible-to-prove God?
My faith is literally keeping me alive
Did you know I’ve thought about suicide?

Even though I’m hurt, I pray
In a simple, childish, way-
Although I don’t stand to gain,
I pray for those who cause me pain.

And I’m still fighting, invisibly
For some glimmer of normalcy
Although it hurts, in my own way
I want to change the world today.
Can you hear me now?

Well done! *claps* ~Pooks
These three poems are in chronological order. The first is about what happened five years ago, the second about what happened two years ago, and this one is about how it is ongoing.
Girl Genius

I know too little
I know too much
I didn’t feel
That gentle touch
Over the edge
And back again
A quiet offer
Of a friend
A tiny slip
In casual exchange
I just forgot
The rules have changed
In trouble now
Can’t make them see
It’s just a part
Of lonely me
I know too little
I know too much
Unconscious of
That gentle nudge
This is the end
Of what I’ve been
I’m starting all
Over again
Always the same—
Though I do try
I always break
On the inside
They never tell
What they have done
And assume I’m
The stupid one
Because I cannot
Read their minds
I’m always half
A beat behind
I try so hard
And always fail
Let out one more
Pitiful wail
Maybe I should
Give up at last
But I so want
Something they have:
I want just a
Brief chance to be
Someone with friends
So unlike me
I know too little
I know too much
Please, just a chance
To stay in touch—
Please!

Re: Poems

Post by Pooks on Thu Jun 11, 2009 4:59 am

Here is a cowboy-style poem I made from a New Yorker style poem I wrote. See which one speaks to you.

Not By a Long Shot

Drank one too many shots today
A perfect shot: that, I can't pull.
Reckoned I'd turn that bitter sweet
And make emptiness full.

Ground beans 'til they was sugar-fine,
The head run hot; gusted a sigh.
Tamped harder, better, stronger, yet.
A passionless ghost steamed by.

Some shots you just can't never change
No matter what you try and do.
But you take and drink it anyway,
'cause the taste of bitter's true.

A great shot? Bittersweet at best.
So grind it, pack it, pull it through.
Bitter beats nothing at all, y'see,
When there's naught else left to do.

Hands Down

Drank one too many espresso shots today
Trying to improve what I haven't power to change.
I believed bitter could be sweet;
Heaviness could be light.

So I ground finer. Tamped harder.
Boiler ran hot, so I cleared the steam.
It sighed. A passionless ghost
floated past and vanished.

Some shots don't change
No matter what you do.
You don't have to take a sip to know it
But you drink it anyway

You drink it anyway.
The perfect shot?
Bittersweet at best.
You drink it anyway:

Bitter beats nothing at all.
