Actually, the original Pokemon TV series began in 1998. What I mean is the focus began on Digimon (Based on my own childhood at least...) but it died out when Pokemon made a rise, which weakened when Yugioh began, etc. etc.

I don't really see how Yugioh was the new Pokemon

It was a new card game about collecting all of the monsters and having them battle each other. Same idea, different time period, and based off of a single part of Pokemon's sales.

Not really, its more of a "battle" type card game than catching monsters to train. I see similarities, but you can always find similarities, I still think the concept is a lot different.

You don't train Pokemon cards bro. Did you ever play the Pokemon TCG?

I think Yu-Gi-Oh was cooler than Pokemon. There was more room to make up some pretty cool strategies.

This thread is now about Yu-Gi-Oh vs. Pokemon.

No its not.

A friend of mine's most valuable possession is a pokemon card. A Pikachu with a paintbrush. No idea what it's for, but he said he had won in a contest or something.

Re: Bakugan

Pokemon cards were my life when I was little. I remember having a shiny japanese mew card that everybody on the playground made rumours about, of how there were only three in the country. I never traded that thing, one kid even offered me fifty bucks...
I cried my heart out when my pokemon cards were put in the wash with my tattered pair of pokemon fighting jeans.
Day after day in the blistering sun we would fight our pokemon, deliberately not paying attention to rules and not using those cards that you needed to use in order to attack.
So many memories are stuffed into Pokemon TCG, no stupid Tu Gi Oh can replicate that. Long live Pokemon TCG.

Sebi makes a valid point, get back on topic and either go to the actual Pokemon thread, make a Yugioh thread, or go make a debate thread.
