I consider myself a taffy connoisseur. Perhaps a better question is, can we truly stratify taffies into "amish" or "regular"? The truth is, there are many different amish cults with many different taffy production systems and flavors; mostly centered around Northeast America and East Fresland, Germany. My personal favorites are the Virginian saltwater taffies, which are indeed produced by the amish.
