Two Speed drawings, two minutes each.

And this is where I would like to share with every *** **** artist on this forum a wonderful program that concept artists use to get quick and fast ideas.

It's called Alchemy.

It is amazing.

It is free.

You have no reason NOT to get it. Digital artists all over the world use it. It is an industry standard for concepting. Check it out for yourselves:

http://al.chemy.org/

I will post a quick setup tut if anyone wants.

Here, let me give you some beginning settings so you can start doing stuff. Afterwards, you can change it however you like once you are used to the program:

1. Once you open Alchemy, hover to the top of the canvas to see the options panel.

2. Where it says "Shapes", activate the thicker rectangle. This turns on dragging shapes, similar to how the lasso tool works in other programs (except you draw with it now).

3. On the far right, hit "Create" and select the "Speed Shapes" option. This'll give you fuzzy shapes so that you're drawing with random patterns.

4. Lastly, hit "Affect" and select "Mirror" two draw in symmetry mode. I'd suggest starting off an image that way and then switching to asymmetry mode by turning it off again to add some details near the end.

5. In order to save an image that you drew, go to File > Export. Save it out as a JPG or PNG, NOT an SVG which is what Alchemy defaults to (and I have no idea how to open SVGs).

These setting oughta get you started on the right foot. Of course, there are many other options in the program so please feel free to experiment with different settings. This is a concepting tool, so mistakes are *supposed* to be made (which is why there is no ctrl+z :D).

Hahah that's freaking awesome Tim

I'm starting to see why people use this program for concepting.

Also, did you just retrace it in Flash or did you manage to export it so it was a live trace?

Aww, that's no fun. I think you could have actually exported it as an SVG and start shading it off the cuff.

Or, they should at least allow to export it as an .ai so you can do that.
