Ignoring the coincidence that the chat became virtually barren once I arrived here, I think we should find a way to revive it.
Perhaps we could make a rule that all logged in members must be on it?

If seems a bit extreme to make that as an actual "rule". However, the chat has certainly declined quite a bit in the last week or so. It has nothing to do with you being here or not.

I think we should make it a rule. How you enforce it, however, doesn't matter. As long as people know that they need to be in it, it would be good.

I don't think we need the rule. Sometimes members just wanna look at the forums briefly, then go about their day. We had times where chat has declined before, it bounces back at times.
And some folks aren't always able to be online every single week and in some cases not everyone is able to be online at the same time anyway due to time zones which sorta restrict when some members can interact. And if one is the only person online at a certain time of the day, there's not much of a point of being in chat.

No one follows the rules around here anyway so if anything it'll make chat less active.

People need to understand that if they sit in the chat a while, others will go on too. They can't just expect miracles to happen and for the chat to always be full, sometimes they need to just stay, or invite a friend and it will fill up.

I think it's my fault. I'm usually on the chat when I'm here, and people join in. Haven't been here for the past week, though.

I wasn't exactly aware that it was inactive. Compared to what it was before it was moved to the top (great idea by the way), it is still jumping with activity.

I believe in rights, and one of the rights I enjoy around here is the right not to log into chat when someone who hates my guts is online. It avoids drama.

New rules for chat:
Offline first log in: warning
Second log in: 3 day ban.
Third log in: Perma Ban
4th log in: forced to take V and Peregrine to a Theme Park/Water Park of their choice. As you will be banned by this point, this is obligatory.
