虎牢關之戰 → 反董卓連合軍[編集]
190;; Three Kingdoms Period
Battle of Hulao Pass → The Collation against Dong Zhou
"The more you sweat in peacetime, the less you bleed during war."
Yao was sweating profusely at the terrible news. He had only just quelled the yellow scarves rebellion, before hearing that Dong Zhou had seized his capital Luoyang, and took control of the imperial court of China. This was the last thing anybody saw coming. It was a difficult decision for him to make, but Yao had to act against Dong Zhou. Dong Zhou's forces had the advantage of numbers, the legendary Lu Bu, and control of Si Shui Gate, the target area. A ruthless tyrant like him, with a ruthless personification that Yao did not want to see ever again.
His body ached all over. He tried to rest in his encampment before the battle, before being interrupted by Yuan Shao, the man he served, who was furious. The road that led to a long, prosperous han dynasty, and more importantly, the glory that came with it, was slipping away from his very fingers. He cringed, and looked to Yao trying to sleep with a painful glare. He was obviously furious, but felt a deep guilt that he'd never admit to. He did not expect a victory.
”Do you think this is some sort of joke Yao? We've lost the capital, you worthless excuse of a nation! We are losing people, cities, and our honor because this dammed dog! Dong Zhou awaits, and you're sleeping!”
Yao had to abandon his capital, because leaving the yellow scarves rebellion would surely have crushed him. This was nothing more than his council fearing the strongest man in the world who happened to be Dong Zhou's puppet, Lu Bu. A painful battle was going to happen in just hours, and he just wanted a little rest. He wasn't sure of anything anymore. None of his choices and battles seemed right anymore. Was he going to vanish in a sea of flame, or come out on top, against all odds? That's when it hit him; he was growing up. His nation had endured much blood and suffering, and if he failed here, his people would suffer for another thousand years. He wasn't going to allow for that. Looking up, he noticed Yuan Shao was still scolding him.
"If we lose this key battle, do you have any idea what's going to happen? We'll lose everything—you know they'll take it all! Our glory... Everything I've worked so hard to achieve will be gone! We just need to rally the—"
"That's enough Yuan. We're putting—I'm putting Sun Jian in charge. You've obviously lost your cool. Go back and rest. Heaven knows you need it... Have Zhang He saddle up my horse, the red hare. I'm going to take the fight to them."
"What are you saying? What about Lu Bu? Do you really think you can handle such a monster?"
"Lu Bu cannot defeat my spirit. So long as a man has his spirit, he cannot be defeated. I shall strike through their forces with the strength of a fierce lion!"
Yuan Shao didn’t understand these ideals, though. He only knew that with China under his command, he'd be remembered forever. Yao had done a lot of growing up in a short amount of time, and knew that this was not the final battle, as Yuan Shao had predicted. This was only the first battle. The forces helping him, Cao Cao of the East, Liu Bei of the south, and Sun Jian of the west would soon choose to fight Yuan Shao, and the han of the north. Yao was more than waiting for the day to serve someone else, rather than Yuan Shao. He didn't say it at this time, not wanting to forget the ever important present. He had many opponents to face in this showdown. Dong Zhou: the King of Tyrants, Lu Bu: The World's Strongest Man, Diao Chan: The Most Beautiful Woman, and Zhou Ce, the physical incarnation of Dong Zhou's rise to power. Zhou Ce was the one who scared Yao most, since he could possibly take his place as the Chinese Nation. It was a disgusting thought, and only fueled his rage.
Zhang He soon entered the tent, after Yuan Shao had left in a rage. Zhang He bowed respectfully, with the grace of a maiden. The two had traveled together for some time, and Yao had a great respect for him.
"Your magnificent steed, my liege. The horse of legend, the Red Hare. Ride her well; as only you can."
"Aiyaa... It's even cuter than I remember... Xie xie, Zhang He. I'll see you on the other side. Inform the others, that the battle has begun!"
That being said, the fabled Chinese conflict had finally begun.
