1: You can't map the nether.
2: MAKE THE DAMN MAP WHERE THE PORTAL IS SO IT WINDS UP IN THE CENTER.

Regarding number 2, that's what I did, but the place where the portal was was behind a wall, and after wandering and flying around I didn't know what height I was at.
