I never have cash in my wallet these days. Cards yes! But they can be cancelled almost instantly. And i will be Autojumbling at Malvern, wjere i know that people like to use cash. But how much is a handheld card reader? Wow! Less than £20, and it connects to your mobile phone! I'll look into this! John

Indeed! I've just renewed my driving licence (every three years for the over 70s) As the DVLA website didn't work (!) I completed and sent them a form, declaring that I was fit and healthy under dozens of criteria, not just vision. There was no "Who is your GP, we are going to check" so no way of validating what I have said, and I have SELF certified my fitness to drive! Trebles all round! Especially for the numpties. John

Dragging this thread, kicking and screaming, back to the OP, I've just booked for Malvern and the Car Club Fest. Looking forward! But I want to have an Autojumble stall, to recycle some of the bits that fill my garage and lock-up. The Car Club Fest website advertises that Autojumblers will be there, but no way of requesting a stall! But finally able to leave a request by going to the EventBrite page about the Fest. Be easier from the Fest's own surely? Also, does anyone here know? They offer a 'Weekend/Camping' ticket for only £60! That's a real bargain for three nights on a camping site! Does that really include a pitch on ther excellent Malvern Showground camp site? John

Trev as Roger showed, that construction is a perfectly valid part of the wonderful, fluid English language. It even has a name, "the Present Historic tense", and is used to make text more intense. EG Charles Dickens, in David Copperfield. [What better example of a writer of excellent English?] He is describing a previous event in the story, but uses the Present Historic tense throughout the passage: Mr. Chillip is in the room, and comes to speak to me. "And how is Master David?" he says, kindly. I cannot tell him very well. I give him my hand, which he holds in his. Compare, "Mr. Chillip was in the room, and came to speak to me. "And how is Master David?" he said, kindly. I could tell him very well. I gave him my hand, which he held in his." Do you feel the difference? John

GONE. Triumph 6 cylinder block and head bare unmachined castings
john.r.davies replied to BlueTR3A-5EKT's topic in Motorsport
+60! I didn't ask for details, but assume they bored it out to take a bigger sleeve, then bored that to +60. Certainly all the bores are the same. John -
Thank you for that idea, Dave! I have that problem, or rather that the header tube on the front exhaust port is so close to the stud that a ring won't go on, and an open ended can only be turned, one flat at a time. AND, other bits get in the way, so that for even that arc to work, I have a special, cut-down spanner for the job, but that makes it had on the fingers to get it tight enough. A cap head! Doh! of course! Just to check, please post the promised pic? John

Would such mods have needed specially (ie carefully) made castings? I have a +60 overbore, to 2.6L, but when the shop did that they broke through into the water jacket. Disaster, I cried! No probs, said the shop, it often happens due to core shift in the mould, we'll just sleeve it. They did and it has had no probs. John -
??? Since when was any HMS Warship painted red, white and blue? Except, of course, for the ensign. As said above this is RFA Proteus, a specialized Royal Navy ship: https://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/organisation/units-and-squadrons/support-ships/rfa-proteus John
