  1. Is this mismatch of wheel and tyre to the cutout shape of the wings possibly to do with reproduction wings? if you look at Chris Sergison’s red TR2 the end of the front bumper is in a different position to the wing cut out of the Apple green TR2..
  2. This is not something to do with the Lucas distributor points cam change is it? Happened in the early 1950’s Points gap went from 0.010-0.012” to 0.014-0.016” with the cam change. detail from Morris Minor.
  3. More reading on chains Diamond chains, IWIS chains, Renold chains and Rolon chains. my understanding…… I think Renold was oe Triumph. Rolon was our go to supplier in the 1980’s when Triumph stopped supplying their own packaged items. Diamonds is associated ( linked?) to Timken. IWIS is oe German supply. https://www.timken.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Diamond-Chain-Catalog.pdf https://www.iwis.com/en-en/products-services/industrial-drive-systems/chain-series https://www.renold.com/products/industrial-transmission-chain/general-transmission-chain/renold/ https://www.lgb.co.in/products/industrial-chains/
  4. Washer with a slot in it is to retain the male fasteners in the boot tyre cover board.
  5. This TR3 engine will have a continuous Triumph NOS 57151 Made In England chain installed, even though I have a couple of linked type Renold chains on the shelf. I have used both types on TR engines and not had any issues with either. Cheap unbranded chains are found to be stretched a lot more than branded after a some years of service. Whether that was driver or chain I can’t say but it was always the no name chains that were stretched and slack. They also eat through the tensioner, which is probably to do with burrs and sharp edges of the links
  6. Someone posted this regarding drying clothes.
  7. Using a linked timing chain to set the cam timing sped up the on off on off move link, turn gear malkarky. Just unloop the chain from the cam sprocket and do the adjustment. Ended up with the cam advanced by 3° measured on the crank, so half that on the cam. Measurement 107° instead of 110°, alternative placed the cam at 112 after TDC). We like advanced as the chain will stretch and retard the cam in service. The equal at TDC is within 0.002” lift.
  8. I too gave up with the dwell meter as the dwell setting was so differentt to the Lucas specified feeler gauge points gap. Some reading http://www.advanceautowire.com/tr2506/Chapter 6 - Dwell vs Point Gap.pdf https://www.howacarworks.com/ignition-system/checking-the-dwell-angle
  9. I like the bullet holes in the door Don. I'd struggle to move let alone fit a spare tyre that size.
  10. You just need to read the current consumption spec for your chosen cooling fan. And add that to all the other electrical items you fit. My car runs a fan that wants 10 amps. That meant changing to an alternator from a dynamo. My chosen alternator is said to deliver 45 amps and delivers precisely what I ask of it. That is probably what a regular TR6 alternator will provide. My alternator is tiny and comes from a Kubota garden tractor, is made by Nippon Denso. This allows space between it and the rest of the engine + ancillaries. Consider what other electrical drains you might fit. Electric cooling pump. EFI fuel pump. Drown out the world stereo. Air conditioning.
  11. Or find a Rolls Royce UD1751 mercury type boot lamp tilt switch…… used ones go for £50
  12. Kit of 3 plates per side or sold individually. Kit is a TT 3259 number with L or R suffix to suit left or right as you sit in the car. They are Standard Triumph factory reinforcements for 139580 the bracket photographed earlier in this thread. There is a factory drawing of where and how they fit somewhere I can’t find it in my ‘tech notes and bulletins’ at present. https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/en-gb/chassis-frame-tr5-6-1967-76-tr56--11--08--01 PS. I’d buy the Moss ones as they don’t look rusty unlike the Rimmmers ones linked to earlier.
  13. Was looking for the 1980’s video advertising the Vauxhall that was faster 0-60 than Porsche Words went. The Porsche will be along in a second or so. Found Clarkson reviewing the Saab 9000 that stamped on contemporary Porsche in similar tests.
