To precis, Wayne has rebuilt the car from a badly accident damaged wreck to a gleaming met BRG gem with - wait for it - a TVR Chimera 5ltr V8, driving through a BW T5 auto box, Quaife 2.84:1 LSD, Compomotive ML 7x15 wheels to a (scorched) road surface! Wayne reckons 280bhp or thereabouts, and says it gets a bit noisy at 130 plus mph with the hood down!! Do any of you Kent area boys know Wayne and his car? Come on, Maxwell, find out more, I'd love to see more pictures on the forum. Mike Quote

TVR lumps more common s/h than you think, their was a 420SEAC engine on E Bay a little while ago for around £ 650 and that was fully refreshed. I think the 5 litre lumps pull around £ 2,500. Mole Valley Breakers often have them. Must admit the T5 box has to have a better change than the LT77 aside from being stronger. My 7 has just come back with a refurbed box and although early days the change is just as grim as when I was driving management SD1s at the AA when they were new. Jim Quote
mikehardwick Posted June 10, 2004 Author Report Posted June 10, 2004 Jim, the only clue given to Mr Walsh's whereabouts is Maidstone, Kent - and probably a strong smell of burning rubber!! Haven't even considered an autobox on the TR7, though I wouldn't even consider a modern car without one (the 5 speeder on my wife's Rover 75 CDTi131 is brilliant). The manual 77mm 'box in my car is fine - apart from a baulky 2nd gear when cold, but then, they all do that, Sir! Oh, and lazy synchro on 3rd, but you soon learn to drive round that. If you locate wayne, hope you can coerce him into the Register - if he's not already a member. Mike Quote

I have considered looking at going down the ZF4HP auto from the Jag but its just a pipe dream at the mo. Can't be to hard to do though cos loads of Stag autos are running round with the conversion. wayne walsh Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 The car still exists. It has a manual T5 with a quick shift. Been in the garage for over ten years covered up. I will have some more time on my hands in a few months so she will be back on the road but probably not until summer 2027 Quote
