I remember, I judged it a couple of times.   Theory was I’d be impartial as I had not sold the owner anything beyond service items.

was it Peter Pratt with his original TR2 who was a regular contender for the wooden spoon?

What about Steph Martin’s TR4 , it may have been sold on by now but it definitely won The Wooden Spoon a few times,

Peter and his son Jamie joined us on the recent trip to Romania in his beloved long door TR2, still looking as original as ever. More bathroom sealant than my bathroom. However, when he started it up it sounded beautiful and was superbly reliable.

I was always disappointed that the wooden spoon category was stopped.

Yep, but I don't think your 6 would be in contention Rog.......unless it's changed since the last time I saw it?

Just a 'heads up' that Steph's TR4 is up for auction at Mathewsons (aka Bangers and Cash) later this month (see here), still in 'authentic' condition, laid up since 2005. I believe it was Glen (Protek) Hewett's first TR back in 1979 and sold on to Graham and Steph Martin soon after. Graham did a bit to it then, but mostly it just got used: sprints, hillclimbs, trips to France and Spain. Later on Steph and I had great times with it leading tours to Scotland, Ireland and France.

Hopefully it will make an affordable start to a project for somebody who'll do just enough to it to keep it enjoyable, but who knows.

I hope these few pics might stir some memories.

Good luck Ian, I hope it sells well and the new owner recreates the happy times we all had together.
