doretti Posted July 27, 2023 Report Posted July 27, 2023 The likelihood of Malvern being the setting of the TR Register’s 2024 IWE fits in nicely with my original intention to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Swallow Doretti next year, thus avoiding a conflict with any TR2 events this year. On 7th January 1954 the first official showing of the Doretti took place at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California. Six months later on 1st July a party was held at the White Hart Hotel in Buckingham to introduce the Doretti to the British home market. Hopefully an informal meeting of Doretti owners can be arranged to take place over the weekend during the TR Register’s Triumph@70 event at Shepton Mallet, to discuss possible celebration arrangements for 2024. Dic Doretti Posted July 28, 2023 Report Posted July 28, 2023 Mike Nangreave and Dave Flavell are planning a 70th Anniversary celebration based around the White Hart Hotel which was where the Swallow Doretti was launched in the UK in 1954. The hotel had a marquee where several Dorettis were displayed while more cars were being raced at Silverstone in front of journalists. The White Hart Hotel will be under going a major refit over the winter but hopefully it will be finished in time. Cheers Richard Quote
