Hello

Anyone able to recommend a tyre place in Mid Sussex that even knows what a inner tube is?

Been to 6 places now. The looks of befuddlement which at first were amusing are now beginning to grate.

Many thanks

I have used a very honest family business for years.  They will take a booking and have a waiting area and do a very careful job.

  • JWR tyres
  • The Broyle
  • Ringmer, Lewes, East Sussex
  • 01825 840657

It is a father and son working near their home. It is worth calling them for a quote and if you need some help deliver the wheel to me and I will take to to them.

Good luck

Went over to JWR yesterday and he git back to me this morning with a good quote for x4 Pirelli Cinturatos. Lovely chap too. Probably get them fitted some time next week if it's not raining.

Many thanks

Finally got the time and the sun on my side to get the Cinturatos fitted.

As said, JWR is a small father and son firm that really know what they're doing. If you want quick, these really aren't the guys for you.

I was there 2 hours but the proprietor worked slowly and carefully fitting the inner tubes properly. I showed him where to jack the car up and he graciously did so.

So now I have four nice new Cinturatos....should keep me going for years!

Many thanks

Do you have front or rear arbs?

No idea Drewmotty.....I'd have to check. Although the car does have a tendancy to roll on the drivers side going into left handers more than it does right handers?

If no ARBs front or rear I'd start with 28 to 30 psi all round.

Front ARB only. 30 front 26 rear to counteract the horrific understeer you'll be getting

Is the roll present when you are alone driving and with an equal weight passenger?

If so think the dampers on the RH side might not be as firm as the ones on the left or a matched pair.
Or you have a broken rear spring on the right.

Or the front springs or rear springs are not a pair.

Hmmmm. Do the dampers get spongier over time. I wouldn't be surprised if they've never been replaced.

Surely dampers should not change how much a car rolls on a corner  they should just reduce the bouncing.

Rate at which it rolls I thought was restricted by the dampers, obviously not how far it rolls as that is determined by the spring rate, so long as the chassis is not bent.

Yes, the rate, but on anything but a very short bend the roll angle will stabilse to be the same as if no dampers present.
