Pyttspete Posted April 14, 2025 Report Posted April 14, 2025 I have a small weep from the core plug / frost plug and am thinking of using the K Seal leak repair solution until I can get round to taking the head off to repair. Are there any drawbacks to using K Seal - any effects on the cooling system that anyone knows about???? Thanks Quote
rcreweread Posted April 14, 2025 Report Posted April 14, 2025 Hi - I've used it before with no apparent negative effects on the cooling system. I'm pretty sure I heard the Stag boys use it extensively so I doubt it creates problems Cheers Rich C-R Quote
Lebro Posted April 14, 2025 Report Posted April 14, 2025 It is the best of all the "quick fix" solutions, but if the plug is leaking, it's probably rusting through from the inside, & when that starts to happen it usualy get worse very quickly (ask me how I know). Bob Quote
stuart Posted April 15, 2025 Report Posted April 15, 2025 Why would you need to take the head off to replace it? Best done now before it gives way. Stuart. Quote
Pyttspete Posted April 15, 2025 Author Report Posted April 15, 2025 This is at the back of the head Stuart - I cant see any way to remove or replace? Would love to do it in situ. Quote
Nigel C Posted April 15, 2025 Report Posted April 15, 2025 its difficult but can be done (IMHO) I would flag up that in the past I have had problems with thermostats sticking due to K seal....so it does work....on everything! Quote
Keith Wigglesworth Posted April 15, 2025 Report Posted April 15, 2025 Don’t risk a bigger leak. Large quantities of boiling water on your legs could very dodgy. Don’t ask me how I know! Keith Quote

It is do able, bonnet off and battery out, big screwdriver to lever it out and clean up the seat and then a smear of sealant around the edge, fit the plug in place and then a good clout with big hammer and the right size socket.
