roy53 Posted June 5 Author Report Posted June 5 It was a Caterham 420 slick tyres and what took some getting used too a paddle shift gearbox only got 5 laps to try in qualifying So strange to have a car go just where you point it Roy 250 gearbox now sorted and tested just awaiting the new springs to complete the changes Quote

The Catergam is probably helped by the fact that it weighs not much more than half what your 250 does I’m pleased your g/box is sorted cos my dog box isn’t. I collected it last week having had a complete brand new Quaife gear set fitted at huge expense. Tried to install it at the weekend only to find, after being unable to get it to slide right home: that the manufacturers have decided to change the input shaft nose from original 1/2” (12.7 mm) diameter to 15mm, which is a Ford size I believe. Result, it won’t insert into the oilite bush in the back of the crank. Zero acceptance of any responsibility from Quaife sole UK Agent. I’ve had to remove input shaft myself, arrange for it to be reprofiled and will have to reassemble myself when I get it back from machine shop. To say I am not happy is a great understatement. Tom, we’ll be spectating at Silverstone this weekend. See you there? Hoping to have my 6 ready for Bailey to race at Snetterton 6th July. Dave McD Quote

Have to remove clutch and flywheel to get to bush. Remember the engine is in situ in the car. in any case, I have a spare dog box with original 1/2” nose and I want commonality of bush so that I can change box at circuit if I have a problem with main unit anytime. roy53 Posted June 15 Author Report Posted June 15 Sorry to hear that Dave mine has always had the ford input shaft so lucky on that point. Had to change the bush in the crank and also the clutch plate to suit. I understand you wanting to have both boxes the same. it seems the first part of the season has it in for us. Good luck John it's up to you and Graham to keep the triumph flag flying Roy Quote
john.r.davies Posted June 15 Report Posted June 15 (edited) Please note the "HoneyBadger Racing" entry. Two lads, a Spitfire they rescued from twenty years in a barn, and all their own work, they are future of Triumph motorsport! John Edited June 15 by john.r.davies Quote

Dave McD Should have added that you will need a ford clutch plate with the new box you probably already know this Roy Quote
