I would guess a cam change to start with.

Not sure the 8 valve head is going to have sufficient breathing to benefit from Webers but I don't have the experience to comment.

Converting to Sprint spec may be worth considering.

Hello Mick,

Your biggest hassle shall be sorting out the cooling system, particularly if you do not have a thermostat housing. I have a Davies Craig electric water pump, electric fan and controller fitted. Another issue may be the throttle linkages fouling on the bonnet, I have 'underslung' actuators.

The manifolds for Webers are different for the 8v and Sprint engines.

As Jerry mentions, to get the best out of the Webers ideally you would require some engine upgrades, I have a balanced and lightened engine, flowed head, uprated cam, four branch, straight through exhaust, electronic ignition, etc.

Good Luck.

Hi Jerry & Cliff,

Thanks for your advice and getting connected, The under bonnet pictures save a thousand words but can I ask where did you get your remote sections for the temperature sensor and everything else that has to be fitted into the top hose?. I already have a stainless steel four branch sports exhaust and the electronic ignition fitted. Do you need to change anything to accommodate the advance and retard vacuum pipe as was previously attached to the HS6 twin SU's.

Hello Mick,

Sorry for the delay in responding, busy weekend Hillclimbing at Doune, it now looks like I have an engine issue.

Anyway, all of the parts for my cooling system came from Car Builder Solutions, including a custom piece for the original temperature sensor and expansion tank take-off. I would be interested to know what chokes and jets are fitted to the Webers supplied with the kit, it has been a long journey by trial and error to find the best set-up. When I spoke to Weber they only said that they recommended a Rolling Road session.

Hi thanks Cliff. I hope you had a decent day hill climbing before the engine issue and that you get it sorted soon.

I am still getting the parts together for the conversion so the name of the company you used may prove invaluable so thanks again.

When I get chance I will try and find out what jets etc. they are fitted with as no instruction or data sheet came with them.

Cheers,

Mick
