TR4Tony VC Posted January 3 Report Posted January 3 Hi all Apologies for radio silence … back in the workshop today! The TR4 centre switch panel fits really well - see pics below. My dash is covered so it looks tight but it’s perfect on the painted dash in my other car that’s in build. You’ll notice that Jason has given me a ‘blank ended’ panel as I’m not fitting crashpads, but otherwise it’s as standard, Jasons black plastic finishing plate is the same size as the standard alloy one (which is painted black on a works TR4 and one my car) and I’ll be using his in BST82B … fits really well again. Ive measured up a good number of crash pads and the early ones are 2 to 3 mm bigger in section than either a TR4a or TR6 original and the currently available light coloured vita foam reproduction. There is variation probably due to aging, sun etc so it’s not a uniform one type for early, one for late I don’t think. The black ones are a weird shape, so I’m not bothering with them based on past disappointment ! The upshot of the above Jason is that I can try out your standard switch panel and I expect it to fit well, but for users of earlier crashpads you’ll need to gently grind out a few mm (using a dremel etc I should think) to get a good fit for the larger type. TR4Tony VC Posted January 3 Report Posted January 3 You’ll also notice that the gauge panel is one of the ones I’ve made with the astray deleted and extra fixing hols are the bottom. This is specifically designed for rally use but dimensionally identical to the standard version. Similarly, the lower switch panel is my own part, again for rally use and slightly wider than standard to accommodate a kill switch, map light base and usual switches for standard bits.
