I have read and seen comments that early or all 5s had silver ones.

mine I think was always black and also the majority of those in early mags/photo’s I have seen.

Dose anyone no for sure ?

Would like to get it correct or clear up the myth

I am positive that the air filter box was silver and the plenum was crackle black. My blue car was very original and was silver still with the blue sticker on it.

Cheers,

I believe the last few 5s had black air boxes but all others were silver.

I have a TR250 air box on my TR6 that came off of a TR250 that was entered into concours shows and that is black.

The original air box on my CF TR6 was silver and I also have an air box from an early GT6 and that is also silver

I asked the question about the air box colour on a 250 earlier this year and the replies were mixed black or silver l since found a few pictures of original under bonnet 250s and they confirmed the colour was originally silver

Hi Chris

Where most things come from these days! Amazon 🫣

This is the link

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DKXM5XC4?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3&th=1

I also found a couple of flanges to connect it to the radiator shroud

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DB63VB3R?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1

the pipe is a little big for the airbox so I put a couple of turns of electrical tape around the spiggots

I'm pleased with the result the car runs well and induction noise is gone

Be aware the TR250 did not have inlet hoses or a full shroud…

Why didn’t the 250 have a full radiator shroud? And what should be there ?

(Sorry to divert from original post)

If you are really trying to get your 250 to a concourse level:

Air Deflector: Photos and part numbers are in the below post from the Triumph Experience Forum. The originals were cheepo carboard and did not last long. The replacements are the same (suggest applying a waterproof coating):

TR250 Radiator Air Deflector

Moss UK TR250 Air Deflector

TR250 Intake Manifold: Photos of TR250 Intake Manifold with PCV (only on carb 250 and 69 TR6). These fit the narrow-spaced port heads that were on the 250 and early 6's. As far as air filter housing the TR250 had twin snorkels and a vent tube near the back carb. I have seen both black and silver housings over the years. The bottom photo is an official TR250 dealer's brochure - note bumble bee hoses which are available from a member of the Triumph Experience Forum (NFI):
