Any news yet?

Not as far as I'm aware Terry, I don't really expect anything before next week to be honest.

I've only just come across this particular thread but I have been aware of the spat between the TSSC and the TRR for a few days now.  It is a very regrettable situation and one which could and should have been avoided.  Hopefully, Mick Forey and Chris Gunby can settle their differences at the NEC later this week and we can get on with organising a worthy gathering of Triumph's and all  other marques at Malvern next year.

What I do find really odd though is the Registers determination to go it alone and take all the financial risk of putting on the event and then sharing the profits with other clubs! What sort of business plan is that?  To my mind it makes the TSSC decision to pull out make even less sense as they would be getting money for nothing!   However, my own view is that only if you put effort into making the event a success then do you qualify for a share of the profits.

What is more worrying is that despite efforts by the MT to recruit an events manager we still haven't done so. The process so far has actually been a bit of a farce with one preferred candidate who was interviewed not even having a valid driving licence!  The clock is ticking and Malvern is now only 9 months away.

I don’t know, but having been part of a team, trying to make some thing happen with those disagreeing and when votes going against, can get people throwing toys out of the pram, it can be frustrating and time consuming. I think it was a case of too many chefs, having to agree everything, checking, then waiting for a response. Smaller teams get things done quicker especially then you have been doing it successfully for decades.

So taking on the organising task alone seems a good choice, but not to offend and keep everyone on board an offer to share in the profits. Who would have guessed that would offend as you say money for nothing. I think I would say thank you can we do anything to help on the day, even ask if the organiser can include something specific could work, but that’s just an opinion.

WAKE UP, TRR!!!

I've had an email this morning, from Club Triumph, urging its members to book early for the Malvern Show, and offering a discount code!

While this thread was started by an early announcement about "Car Club Fest" at Malvern, there have been no posts here since before Xmas 2025, and the show is about six pages deep on the TRR home webpage, under a mountain of local shows and events.      Unless the TRR gets itself into gear (!) all the tickets may be bought up by CT and MGCC!   I'm having to restrain myself from taking up the CT offer, to ensure that I get a place.

Big full page advert for Car Club Fest page 54 of TR Action issue 361.

Includes discount code … what more do you want ?

I received an email on 26th January from TRR covering it all - including the discount code.

Sadly I can't go this year as it's in the School holidays and it clashes with other commitments

Yup, seems pretty darn clear to me to be honest

For a start, a personal email message encouraging me to go and offering a discount code!  I'm glad that Rod got one, but I'm a  member too.

I believe that it is straightforward to send multiple emails to a whole list of people - I believe, I don't know how, but scammers do it all the time!

Heigh ho!  If TRR isn't interested in me, I'll go as a CT member.

John

PS  "sheepcrm.com"   in Chris' message.  Isn't that the outsource org that dealt, initially with dismal success and no longer, with MotorsportUK licences??  Or was it with TRR membership???

I received two emails from the Register on the same day - one at 16.30 with the Car Club Fest flyer and info, and a bit later - at 18.08 - an email about the upcoming AMM. Both came from the 'TR Register e-Newsletter' (press@tr-register.co.uk) email address.

Probably worth getting in touch with the office if you're not getting these newsletter emails

John I seem to remember you have had some hacking issues in the past and you now use a very strong security and anti malware system ?

could it be that this is sending a lot of emails or group messaged to spam or junk folders ?

just a thought

Hamish,

That is possible!    A friend here asked for my email address via PM and sent me a copy of the message he had received from the TRR.     Unfortunately, it had a very 'marketing' title and I Trashed it with all the other "Buy now!" messages I get.  I've retrieved that message from the bin, but I deleted all the Trash at New Year, so if the TRR did message me, it's gone.

Nigel,   Not everyone has a Apple phone, in fact only 14% of the UK do.  The rest use Windows/Android etc, which I had to remind MotorsportUK recently, when I was chasing my race licence renewal.  They apologised for the delay, promised that my licence would be in the post soon, and enclosed a digital copy.     Wonderful!  Except that the copy was in ".pkpass" format, which is EXCLUSIVE to Apple phones.   No, I don't have one!

The message came on Jan 26th John so it's probably still in your Spam folder - if you can find it then flag the TRR address as a safe sender and all should be OK ongoing

Thank you, Rod, but no.     On that date, an invite from TRR to the AGM, that I read and then sent to trash (no insult, just uncluttering).  To be sure, I looked at the previous and next days - nothing.     I won't hold it against them.

Very odd that you got one and not the other as I received both the Car Club Fest and AMM emails on the same day. Worth contacting the Office to check that you were sent both, and if not, why not?

Just about to book my tickets, I got both the emails, but could not see any discount code.

Anyway, used the code above, & ticket now aquired.
