Richardtr3a Posted November 5 Report Posted November 5 Hi, We have a cupboard in the bedroom which has a button switch built into the cupboard frame. The switch has broken and it is difficult to replace because of the very cramped position. I have tried to use a replacement but the cables were trimmed to fit the broken switch when installed decades ago. It is not sensible to enter the roof space and try to alter the cable because the plasterboard is only protected by two layers of 150mm insulation and it is impossible to see where the ceiling timbers are located. If I go up there I will have a good chance of breaking the ceiling and causing damage. We had an electrician fit a Kinetic switch in the other bedroom which has no wires and looks like a better answer. The electrician has disappeared , left his local sport team, and does not respond to eMails, calls or messages. A new kinetic switch will need a unit in the cupboard ceiling, which should be easier than replacing the broken switch. Is there anyone on this forum who can help with some instructions, Please let me have any advice. Thanks Richard Quote
Richardtr3a Posted November 7 Author Report Posted November 7 I have been to the electrical distributors shop, TLC (Brighton), and bought two items. 1. A Quinetic 1G IP67 white switch 2. 6A Wireless Switch Receiver They were also able to give me instructions and advice. I will be back on the cupboard light when the weather stops me from garden or car maintenance. I also made a spelling mistake originally. It is Quinetic and the two items cost £40.25 plus vat How will this work out ?? Richard Quote
