dimensions lower wishbone TR4A - TR6

Hi all,

I'm looking for a dimension of the lower wishbone of all Tr4A - TR6:

How wide is the outer "eye" (without paint), the end where the trunnion is fixed with the assembly of hardened washers, nylons, steel distancers, please.

On the TR4A sheets no dimension is documented, on the other side (to the frame) the manual tells 1.12"

I measured it when I had all apart last year - but sadly can't find my notice anymore...

No news yet Marco.

My engineering friend has drawn up the machining drawing  but is so busy so do not know when or iff it will happen.

Alisdair (Classic Car Developments) is looking into it and may come up with a kit anytime soon (I hope).

So like all things we await to see if it happens.

Are you looking into its Marco? There would be a market I think!

Yes,

+ insurance issues + H-number registration

And I can‘t really see the need

Try that here in France and the administration would have apoplexy!

It's bad enough with rack and pinion steering.

Sorry for the very late response.

Yesterday I measured a NOS wishbones arm.

 The average width where the top hat plastic bushes fit is 0.9875”. The surfaces were not completely parallel.  Width varied by upto 0.002”   (25.08 to 25.1 mm)

Because of no resond I dismantled one side and determined 25.0 mm (0.985") on both wishbones there.

That's pretts much the same...?

With a number of photos I hope it will be a helpful article at our next club magazine.

Yes within a hair’s thickness of the measurement I made.   This could be because my vernier caliper is not controlled dimensionally to any standard.  Now there is a job for the coming weeks.    Find a standard size ball bearing and check it with the tool.    This is Unlike my micrometers which have a setting block for base dimension.

There is a German saying playing with the double meaning of „messen, du misst, der Mist“.

It goes „wer misst misst Mist“ („who measures measures dung“).
