My TR3A's PO did away with the control head and with it, self cancelling turn signals (not that they are infallible).

I have been leaving my turn signal on, dangerously. A couple of times recently, cars have pulled onto a roundabout or out from a side road right in front of me because I have been accidentally signalling that I intend to turn. It seemed only a matter of time before I hit one of them. The dash warning light is so far from my direct line of sight, it is no warning at all. I only notice it when I check a central gauge like oil pressure, incidentally.

I need an audible signal. I didn't want a piezo electronic buzzer. I wanted a device that made a resounding click-clack sound that I can hear with the top down, at speed or in busy traffic. I found such a device at Quicksilver Automotive. They make versions for -ve and +ve earth cars. The device costs £30.

I mounted mine against the back side of the dash with a tab of 3M adhesive foam tape, next to the overdrive switch. The box is matchbox size. I can hear the click-clack very easily. I have not left my signal on once since I installed it. From the box, one wire goes to earth and the other two wires piggy back onto the left/right turn signal wires.

No financial interest, I just feel safer with it.

Thanks for the tip Brian, it's something that I've been considering for a while as I really dislike the buzzer things

Looks like I have another job on the list

What I consider since some years is to bolt a „metal flag“ on the relais, working like a speeker…..

But this is a project of low priority. Perhaps somebody else did that and can report?

Just had a thought on these click clack things. As it's polarity sensitive would it work on a TR6 which I belive has Indicators that reverse polarity depending on which way you're indicating, or have I got that wrong?

Depends how it is meant to be connected George.  The TR6 flasher unit doesn't have the extra connection for the dash bulb, so if the clicker is supposed to go on that it poses a problem.   It might be possible to overcome it with a couple of diodes though.

I have the click clack warning unit from 4sight on my TR6 as I converted the whole car to led's, see my write up on that in TR Action 351. I can assure everyone that it works perfectly and the dashboard indicator works as well!

Ah yes - just looked at that. There are two connections one to each side bulb feed, so no problem with TR6.

On my TR6 I wired the brake failure indicator light to function as the turn signal indicator. It is large&bright enough to get my attention.

The metal flag on the relais works!

Test drive: it is louder, but while driving not that much.

I guess this is not what old men want

Hi Marco,
what an offence!
I’m not old (28 in my grey cells) but want one:)
