RobH Posted April 12 Report Posted April 12 (edited) Other options are SU and Huco as Hamish suggests. Both of those are much slower-acting than the Facet since the have far greater pumping area, so they 'click' every couple of seconds. You can get both in 'pusher' or 'puller' types. The pusher ones have to be mounted near the tank but the 'puller' ones can be in the engine bay. A Facet has a tiny pumping stroke so has to work all the time and can be noisier. I think they all have to be near the tank. There are low-pressure Facet pumps which do not need the extra regulator. Edited April 12 by RobH Quote

Dave McDonald Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 Chris, The Red top/Silver top type pump that most people associate with Facet is very noisy in a road car. They do smaller cube like pumps. Try the Webcon website, they have a large range of different pumps, some of their own design. I fitted one of theirs on my 5. A small cylindrical pump with a filter mounted in the boot corner, feeding my triple Webers, which has so far performed well with a Malpassi pressure regulator in the engine bay. Dave McD Quote
harlequin Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 (edited) This is what I have used for 5 or 6 years, it's a Facet gold with a Malpassi regulator. It was mounted under the bonnet but I now intend to move it to either under the tank or under the rear near side wing. The pump is mounted on rubber thimbles and I've never had a noise issue. Stuart is spot on with his recommendation of the Malpassi regulator as its been faultless unlike the universal one it replaced. I have wired the pump through a Ford Focus impact switch from a scrap yard George Edit: It's been on the car from long before Covid so at least 10 years of daily use. Jerry There is a lot of the cheaper type pumps not lasting the course these days, weve had similar with some of the aftermarket pumps for PI setups too. Stuart. Quote

Jerry I have a Facet as they are used on boats and aircraft where it's important that they are reliable, maybe you were unlucky and were supplied with fake items. It's now got to the point where I only get things like plugs and electrical items from recognised companies, and I don't mean the usual suspects, and never from stalls at shows where it to easy to unload dodgy stock with minimal comeback. Buy direct or from a good supplier. Quote
