Hi my name is Graham, I’m returning to the fold after many years, 50 infact!

A little about me and why it’s taken so long to find my way back. 

My first car was a TR4A signal red, MPW210E, (where are you now) had a good few years with her but life (marriage/houses etc) came along and things started to get serious. 

I got myself a Mk1 Escort as I started working for Ford Motor Company in Brentwood, this led me on to a string of Fords as you can imagine. 

Mk3 Escorts, Fiesta XR2i, Fiesta RS turbo, Escort Series 1 turbo, Mk4 Escort turbos, see a pattern forming here!, Sierra Cosworth, Escort Cosworth, in between these I also had a few touring bikes, namely Honda Goldwings (5) and the odd Yamaha and Suzuki thrown in. 

As retirement loomed I thought I needed something to occupy my time so I decided to build a car, an Ultima CanAm with mid engine 6.2 litre V8, which I still have after many years of modifications, although she is currently for sale as I haven’t used her for quite a while. 

 In covid I bought a bit of a project, MGB GT V8 Sebring lookalike, which I rebuilt, including all running gear and interior, ran it for a few months but just didn’t gel with it so it sold last year, which got me thinking about going back to a TR. 

So I’m in the market for a really good 4A with Surrey top or maybe a 250 if the right one comes along.

Hi Graham 

 Welcome back ,being biased try for a 250 it took me along time to find mine in my price range it’s not perfect certainly not concourse but l can leave it anywhere without fear of “ who’s scratched it “ ( well within reason) l had a 4a for many years but wanted the smooth 6 cylinder unfortunately they don’t come along to often and get snapped up fairly quickly what ever you choose won’t disappoint

Looks like the old girl lasted 8 years after I sold her, ah well….

Must admit I would like a 250, there’s thee at the moment, the Valencia blue at H&H, Royal blue in Chigwell and a mega expensive BRGreen one in Bicester Sports! I’m guessing the Valencia will be nearer the 30 mark after all the add-ons, the Royal isn’t std grey interior (just a question did all 250 have reversing lights?) the BRG one at near £55k I think they’ll be hanging on to that for a while…all these are via Car & Classic site.

I’ve seen a few 4a s but they have been ‘not quite’ there for me…

As far as I’m aware yes all had reversing lights the only external visual difference again l think, would be the across bonnet stripe and of course the engine was lower hp and running stromberg carburettors overdrive was optional there are a few other bits and pieces for the American market . The valencia blue 250 looks half decent ( in the pictures ) if the price remains around £20000 , a white one sold at kings lynn last weekend for just shy of £30000 however it had been badged as a 5 and was fitted with the PI system , correctly catalogued as a 250 mind you

That Valencia one has awful panel fit FWIW.
