Chattering brake servo NRV

Hi,

I have the original bayonet-type non-return valve on my brake servo.

It's working fine, but it chatters most of the time when the engine is running. Since it's right in front of me on the other side of the bulkhead, it's quite annoying. Is there a way, perhaps, to stop this chattering?  It's taken me a while to work out where the noise is coming from!

I see that they are either very expensive or no longer available; the current servos being supplied with a push-in valve. Are there any effective ways to reduce the noise?

But that won't stop the chatter I think?  The valve is doing its job fine. It's the noise I want to stop.

I will still need to seal the hose to the servo somehow if I remove the original valve.

Or am I missing something?

If its chattering then its not doing its job, take the guts out leave the body to fit the servo.

I fitted an inline valve but just left the original in place as is. The rattle stopped.

The car is not here right now.  Does anyone know off-hand what the hose diameter is, so I can get ordering?

I have the same type of original and many years ago did eventually manage to find a replacement but it made absolutely no difference. I just assumed that it was inherent to that design. I’ve just put up with it for over 25 years.

Unfortunately I cannot give any details of the valve that I have as it was given to me by a friend

I confirm that an inline valve has stopped the chatter.

The valve was working fine. I took it out and tested it by blowing through it. It seals very nicely in the appropriate direction. But the moving part it is very light and presumably is happy to fluctuate with even slightThanks, pressure variations.

I put a metal inline valve in place under the servo where it's not even visible so the whole thing all looks nice and original, works properly and is quiet!
