Keith Warren Posted May 17 Report Posted May 17 Hi Dave I had no end of trouble with the Revention extra capacity tank kept cutting out in the end went back to std tank then found sender unit gasket had disintegrated then found plastic square in tank which now and then blocked outlet, later on found the return pipe in tank was only 4.5 mm ID but at the bottom when I cut the pipe out was only 3 mm due to the cut, new pipe now welded in, so would check the tank but as already said pressure gauge will show. see old and new pipe photo Keith Quote
zzzzdave Posted May 18 Author Report Posted May 18 keith , yes i have a Revington extra capacity , thanks for sharing issues you have had,i sent a camera down the return pipe into the tank, and from i can tell it looks ok, cannot see fully into the tank to see if any plastic near outlet, baffles etc stop me looking directly, sender gasket is new and fine all in one bit , its a viton seal , not the cork type, so should be all ok . so where im at now ive installed new pump and filter arrangement as per picture , see attached video of fuel pressure, still wavers ever so slightly when pick up the revs , is this normal . ive also looked at alternator , cannot tell the output as it has no markings ( some after market thing i guess , not good old lucas ), but voltages are Car switched off 12.8v Car about 1500 revs 14v car tick over 12.5v Not sure if this would have a bearing on the pressure wavering slightly . Do i have still have an issue ? ill run the car out a few times and see if it behaves . whats peoples thoughts on the slight fluctuation on pressure gauge, is this the norm or do i have an issue cheers Dave PXL_20260514_142618690.TS.mp4 Quote
Chris Hale Posted May 18 Report Posted May 18 (edited) I would not think that small fluctuation would be a problem. I have a Revington tank and have not had any problems with it. You say you have a viton sender unit gasket, is this relatively new because there were some dodgy ones about a couple of years ago , which disintegrated and caused problems, I had it happen to me and had to take the tank out and spend hours flushing it to clear the bits out of the tank. Steve 286 Posted May 18 Report Posted May 18 I checked the charging on my tr6 on tick over 13.8v and 2000rpm 14.4v so it may be a charging issue Quote
Keith Warren Posted May 18 Report Posted May 18 Hi Chris when I spoke to Neil at Revington he said they had not had any other problems with the sender unit gasket it caused me a lot of trouble, Keith Quote
Chris Hale Posted May 19 Report Posted May 19 (edited) It did me to Kieth, it lasted less than a week , I was in the north of England when I started to problems and only just made it home to Hampshire. Fortunately my sytec pre filter saved the fuel pump Edited May 19 by Chris Hale Quote
Keith Warren Posted May 21 Report Posted May 21 Hi Chris mine is on EFI so when the Alloy tank was in and with the narrow fuel return pipe pressure was set at 3 bar now I have the return with a 6mm ID return pressure drop was just under 2 bar showing the return that Revington fitted was causing an issue but running well now with pressure adjusted back to 3.
