Rob Waldron Posted April 24 Report Posted April 24 (edited) Has anyone done the exercise of hight on the dipstick in cm in relation to amount of fuel in the tank on a 74 TR6. it’s one of those curiosity questions after replacing the sender. Ideally if we had a spare tank it would be a fairly easy experiment ☺️. I know retired and to much time on my hands ☺️☺️ only really need 1/4 1/2 and 3/4 Edited April 24 by Rob Waldron Quote
john.r.davies Posted April 24 Report Posted April 24 Not on a TR6, but on my Vitesse, and I didn't use a dipstick. Brimmed the tank, Emptied it with the electric fuel pump - could be siphoned out, if you only have mechanical - noting the fill volume and gauge readings at 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4 full as it emptied. Is that what you want to do? Useful to me, as my tank is in the spare wheel well , and tilted. I now know that when it reads Empty, I have 5 litres left. John Quote

John Hi John I wanted to dip stick the tank at 1/4 1/2 and 3/4 to give me a cm mark and a literage at those levels full tank in Ltrs which you know empty then add a 1/4 and measure giving you a mark on your dipstick agin at half and the 3/4 mark so for example you might have 6.5 cm at 1/4 then 12 cm at 1/2 and so on. John Morrison Posted April 29 Report Posted April 29 I did this some time ago, when I was fitting a new tank. First 5 litres measures................ 45 mm Second 5 Litres measures...............35mm Third and all subsequent 5 litres add 27/28mm. Just be careful plunging a dipstick into the tank, make sure to miss the sender arm or you can inadvertantly bend it. John. Quote
