I need to replace my 1973 TR6 water pump. If it's original, I'd like to have it rebuilt. However, how do I tell it's original (and not a later replacement)?

Any tell tale signs?

Thanks . . .

EP Services can rebuild some repro pumps to their specifications so worth giving them a call and maybe a photo

Agreed Rich, EP Services from Wolverhampton do a superb job and not overly priced either.

The grease nipple was deleted across the model range in the early 70's.

Some refer to it as a Leyland cost saving.

However at that time Triumph were pushing the needs less regular maintenance than the opposition. For example when the Herald was launched it had multiple greasing points (including the water pump), diff drain plug,  etc. Towards the end they deleted most of them.

Thanks for the replies . . EP Services is definitely where I'll send it.

I'll take it off and see if it looks original (I'm sure it is). I'd hate to send off a cheap non-OEM pump off for refurbishment . . . I may post some photo's here first for further opinions and I'll also speak to EP services.

You can see the plug for the grease nipple on the right in the impeller end on pic. EP services will recondition non original pumps as well .    Chris
