I've bought a Power Spark ignition module for my 7. and having removed the 2 bolts holding the distributor in place find it is reluctant to come out! any advice on how to extract it would be welcome.

Set to tdc on no1 first so you have a fighting chance of getting it back in the correct position.

Probably just a bit stuck on old gasket. Tap gently with a mallet and twist slightly as you pull to disengage the drive gear.

now removed and stripped down. However I notice that the timing shaft has a small bearing that appears to hold down the distributor plate with a small shim. The photos show the distributor as it is. the second its pulled apart and shows the oil ways just above the shim groove in the bearing. and the third the small shim that fitted in the bearing slot. I've looked on Rimmers website and the parts are not shown on any of the diagrams nor is this thin shim listed. My question is can I get another one or does it matter if it's not there? The only purpose I can see is to keep1000018608.thumb.jpg.02ec6c4c045a6d2011ab34056fac7702.jpg the points plate down.1000018607.thumb.jpg.a2e4e57fd9084e8480b69dab341a4a6c.jpg
