Steve-B Posted June 17 Report Posted June 17 (edited) Kevo, glad every thing that came out of the lines was clear! For my money, Revington's is the one a lot have gone to, is very adjustible and easy to fit a pressure gauge onto: https://www.revingtontr.com/product/rtr4456k/name/fuel-pressure-regulator-kit-tr5-6pi Edited June 17 by Steve-B Quote

Your suppose to checking the pressure at the metering unit Quote

Waldi Posted June 17 Report Posted June 17 Kev, 4.6A seems very low, unless you have the original Lucas pump (which draws around 5A). Most “Bosch style” pumps draw 8-10 A. If you close the return line you should easily get 110 psi. Waldi Quote

Hi Stuart, I’m struggling to find a cheaper Malpassi fuel regulator with the correct fittings, the best I can find is £172 inc delivery. Is there anywhere/company you can point me in the direction of. Many Thanks Kev. Edit: I have found plenty of Malpassi regulators at very reasonable prices but I’m not sure what is the correct model I require, the fittings etc I have found. Edited June 20 by Kevo_6 Quote
Kevo_6 Posted June 23 Author Report Posted June 23 (edited) I have fitted the Malpassi regulator and all seems well, fuel pressure is a tad under 100psi but the car started on the first turn. The battery was a bit low. I started balancing the butterflies and then I ran out of fuel. Far too hot to do any more. I’ll get some fuel tomorrow and finish off. I’ll let you know how the Italian tune up goes. Cheers Kev. Edited June 23 by Kevo_6 Quote
Waldi Posted June 23 Report Posted June 23 Hi Kev, that’s good progress. Since the fuel pressure is at the lower limit (or can you increase it?), it would be good to check the pressure at higher rev’s and full throttle (during driving). Waldi Quote
TR NIALL Posted June 23 Report Posted June 23 Goodman Kev get that Battery sorted as it won’t help with Starting and the PRV should be OK at 100psi or adjust it up to 106. Quote

Hi Waldi & Naill, I have the battery on a good charge at the moment and as you both say I will increase the pressure to 106psi when I have got the butterflies balanced. My fuel pressure gauge is only on a short hose so won’t be able to view it whilst driving. Cheers Kev. Edited June 23 by Kevo_6 Quote
roy53 Posted June 30 Report Posted June 30 I hope that you have found the PRV easy to use now with no mess. If you cannot increase the pressure try your other pump again as it seems that is the answer to your problems but i do hope that the battery fully charged solves it. Quote

Hi Roy, the new PRV is so easy to adjust. So that’s a good thing but and it is a big but:- First switch on the ignition and the fuel pressure was 102psi as suggested and also preset by Prestige(TRtrader). I’m adjusting the butterflies and all is going well and pretty happy with them and the car stalls and I look at the pressure gauge and it’s jumping up and down from about 40psi to 80psi and I can hear the fuel pump hunting in rhythm with the gauge. So I turn the ignition off for a few minutes and it’s fine again and then it repeats itself. The pump seems quite hot but the fuel pipes are nice and cool. If I set the revs to about 950rpm the engines fine enough to move it 50m down the drive and ticks over happily like that. Didn’t want to risk taking it for a spin. I can’t get my other pump to spin without making a hell of a noise. I’m thinking my pumps knackered, was reconditioned about 6 years ago. What is your view and everyone else’s view on this. Heeeelp!! Cheers Kev. Quote

Cheers Kev. Is it the Original Lucas I presume if so sounds like it’s due another Recon or maybe switch to the Bosch equivalent. I emailed Glencoe who now do a replacement for the Bosch 044 and they recommended the one pictured below should be available from them for about £90. Quote
Waldi Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Hi Kev, Are you 100% certain there is no restriction in the line from tank to pump? If so, I think your pump could be faulty. In your case, I would opt for the Lucas. I have a Bosch but I also see the advantages of the Lucas pump, it warms the fuel at a much lower rate. Waldi Quote
trchris Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 Hi Kev l suspect the pump is at fault as Waldo suggested l would stick with the Lucas pump if you can find company that can genuinely overhaul it Chris Quote

Yes it’s a Lucas pump Niall, still not sure which way I should go but that pump is interesting, i shall look into that. Kev. Quote
Chris Hale Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 This is the Bosch equivalent that I use https://www.westwalesrallyspares.co.uk/bosch-injection-fuel-pump-909?search=Fuel pump worked fine in the South of France a couple of weeks ago in temps in the mid 30s Quote

Chris Hale Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 (edited) If you go down the Bosch type route my advice would be to mount it in the rear wheel arch rather than in the boot/spare wheel well Edited July 2 by Chris Hale Quote
