The saga continues.

The dead horn has risen from the grave and is now working.

But there is more !!  With the engine not running both horns do not work. I can hear the horn relay clicking in and the horns vibrating but not hooting.
With the engine running the horns work.  This would suggest that the battery is not happy but it turns and starts the engine and runs all the bits and pieces.

The battery was showing 12.75V   I have put the battery on charge and on charge it is showing 14.5V

I opened up the horn relay and the cntacts were showing a badly burnt contact.  Now cleaned.  The relay internals were in pristine condtion.

More investigation !!

  It probably was the bad relay contact dropping enough voltage for the horns not to work Roger.  Because the horns are electro-mechanical, relying on a moving armature operating a contact,  there will be a fairly sharp work/not work transition as supply current drops below the point where the contact can operate properly.   

If the relay contact was burned I wonder about the horn internal contacts......?

Can I add my Clear Hooter horn woes to Rogers please?

With everything connected as it should be, neither horns work, but the relay clicks in & out. If I disconnect the offside horn the nearside horn works ok, re connect the offside, neither works, replay clicks ok.

If I connect the "dodgy' offside horn directly to the battery, hey presto it works. A friend loaned me a spare horn he had, if I connect that to the offside then both horns work.

I've changed the relay in case that was at fault, but didn't make any difference.

Any thoughts please? I'm prepared to accept the offside horn maybe dodgy, but I'm puzzled why it would work connected directly to the battery, Thanks.

 that follows my experience almost to a T.

I will be receiving a good horn very soon so it should be interesting if both will then work (together)

Sounds like either an earth fault or the wiring between the horns.
