Water Curtains

This topic has come up a few times, recently with a number of practical comments in the TR5 forum:

However, I'd like to ask for a few tips. My door curtains are long gone, with the doors & mechanisms in a serviceable state. I don't want to remove the glass, but is there a way I could fudge curtain replacements? I have a vague scheme to cut a section of bin liner, glue a plastic strip & somehow clip on with bulldog clips? Or ...?

Attached is the door diagram with the curtains as parts 76, 124 & 126, and a snap from the TV where Ant Antstead of Wheeler Dealers was replacing the door skin of a '4. The picture, which is a bit unclear, shows (I think) the curtains at the bottom of the door. The large light coloured area is I think card or similar to protect the glass from the skin removal operations. We are looking at the door from the outside in.

Anyhow, all suggestions welcome.

Think it's been said before. Just stick a piece of polythene to the inside of the door card. The drip sheets don't stop water coming into the door. Are they there to prevent water getting on the winder mechanism ? Just make sure its  well greased  I never fitted any on my 4a and it's  fine inside the doors

Hi,

Briefly, after consulting members of my local Register group I have reinstated the water curtains, but a bit of a bodge:

I cut a heavy duty bin bag to size per door, then cut into two sections. For each section I applied gaffer tape to stick it to the horizontal glass holder, rolled into a tube which was then secured with a tiny bit of masking tape.

The next bit is tricky - get the roll in behind the mechanism, and stick on the "curtain". Then unroll .... Did I mention tricky?
