It has been going round for a while, a few things not exactly right but interesting to see it looks as if the metering unit has the PRV on top of it as discussed on here not long ago.

Yes that was the original position hence the flat section at the rear of the wheel arch that persists all the way up through the 6 as well.

Wiper arms are the wrong way round, the cranked one should be passenger side to allow the vent flap to open. The lower screen covers on the three bolts should be black. Routing of washer fluid pipe to inside. Missing clip for throttle cable to keep it away from master cylinder cap. DVLA wouldnt like that Com plate (I would hope it comes with the original) wrong rivets fitting it.  Bolts holding "A" frame to dash should have black caps. Horn relay fitted  (TR5 didnt have one) Rear lamp lenses look to be repros though pictures arent good enough resolution to see for sure, same as its difficult to tell if its got black sills as well.

All minor things but to get top concours money its the small things that count.

Hi Stuart

Stuart being a prototype for the TR5 it was based on a LHD TR4a which was converted into the prototype you see here. The first owner did the LHD to RHD conversion with some help from BL, well parts wise! I am surprised you did not mention the un-painted body trim (Tr4a),  the TR4a grille, the prototype instruments, the front wing and door s/s trim pieces being one offs, the prototype wiring loom, the way the they just plumbed in the washer bottle pipe (mentioned by yourself), the H section under the dash never had black caps fitted as they didn't come out until the tr6 (again as mentioned by yourself)  etc etc.

This car was re-built by myself with great care to originality fortunately most if not all the changes done by S/T experimental dept. were plain to see and were thankfully re-used or untouched during the rebuild. (see later)  I have to mention John Collins, Heritage Classics, Middlesborough (body and paint) who did a great job btw.

The passenger side window wiper has been changed at some point unknown to me I hasten to add, it was correct in my ownership. There is a proper clip located under the front drivers wing to keep the throttle cable away from the master cylinder cap?

The original comm plate was very badly worn you could only see the X755 if you peered at it, there was nothing else to see except scabby metal. However I kept it and when talking tp Anthony I offered to send him it so I did `so that should be with the car. The rear lights and front wing side lights were NOS items correct for the car.

The advert states the front seats are in leather...oh no they aren't. John Sykes from TRBitz sourced me up some original NOS blue ambla for the front seats and these were recovered to be as original, they are wonderful btw.

There were many different things on this car that evidently were changed from the 4a into a 5 namely windscreen soft top fixings, B posts and door catches, front arches evidently all skillfully done by S/T experimental and barring the windscreen frame which was way past any recovery,  everything else is plain to see.

Its a very very good example and was not done to concours standards by myself BUT it was blinkin very close to it. I started off just doing it into a very nice running prototype but I got carried away. Below pic. is how it came to me.

As a follow on Stuart being a LHD TR4a plucked off the line of course it didn't have a horn relay because it has a hazard warning relay and the o/drive one, anyway I can assure you it was done using mainly NOS parts most of which I already had, not body panels though some of NOS panels came from America, cost don't ask!

The only concession to originality are the wheels.  They are TR6 wheels with rossies.  No one but no one has even commented on that. They fill the arches a little bit more and give the car a great stance. The two pics are of the interior and the one off s/s door and front wing strips, note rounded edges. I had these re-done at a large sum but hey that's originality for you.
