We started out from Oslo in a 16 seater aircraft and by the time we got to Svolvær (three changes I think) it was a four seater...and the captain had one of them! beautiful....if a little expensive! For a while in the 1970s I flew once a month between Oslo and Verdal in a 16 seater aircraft, it was just like a bus with 4 or 5 stops on the way. Each stop involved the plane circulating into a valley to land at a small village runway for people to get on and off, it sounds mad nowadays but some of the passengers were going hunting and had their rifles with them as hand luggage. This tale reminds me of travelling in Turkey in the 90s. Guns were (are?) openly carried and at the Adana aeroport pre-boarding security check they were handed to a policeman who returned his weapon to the owner after he had been screened.... james Edited July 1 by james christie Quote
