Triumph Tr4 gear stick

Hi there

I have a 1964 Tr4 I’m currently reassembling. It came to me in boxes. I have a query about gear stick. Below are pictures but how does it locate ? Parts catalogue shows a bolt going through but there no evidence on a bolt hole. The cap has 3 holes in the side

Have a look at the one on the left - the TR4 stick looks like that like that

Carly ( is that your name?) - welcome to the forum where I'm sure you will find lots of helpful advice.

That gear lever looks to me like a saloon one - what you need is one like in the photos below - this is surplus to my requirements and is in very nice condition, having been rechromed - its £60 if you are interested (PM me)

Martin - I have replied to your similar post over on the US forum.  

I had the opposite situation when I put a saloon 'box in my TR3A, but in that case it was easy just to use a through bolt in the threaded holes. The stick fitted fine so the ball must be the same size.     I can't think why it shouldn't work just tapping the holes for the TR6 type bolts to let you use that stick ( if it is a TR6 one ?) unless someone on here knows different?

The spring that retains the early stick wire the through bolt hole is different to the one used on the non through bolt type.   The small diameter is different.  The spring strength is different and the overall length is different
