harlequin Posted July 2 Report Posted July 2 A few of us from the Cambfollowers had a run out to Caister Castle near Great Yarmouth today. The Castle is the home of the largest private car museum in the UK and well worth a visit if you're over here in the East. Altogether a good day 200 trouble free TR miles in the sunshine, a car museum and a pub lunch what more could you wish for George Quote

Although just 55 miles from here, I know almost nothing about that corner of England so I'll add it to my 'must visit' list. Who knows, perhaps I might suggest it to the East Saxons and Abbott & Stour groups as a day or even a weekend out. Thanks for the suggestion. Quote
harlequin Posted July 3 Author Report Posted July 3 Hi Pete It's a good day out but for a weekend you'll need a second place to visit to fill your time, it is ofcourse the Norfolk Broads so there are some lovely villages in that area and quite a few good pubs. The people at the castle were very friendly and there's quite a few volunteers who happy to chat about the place, plus there's a porcelain collection, gardens, a tea room and picnic area. I only took a couple of photos see below but this is the website https://www.caistercastle.co.uk/ George Quote
Bfg Posted July 5 Report Posted July 5 Thanks George. I'll see what others in our group say. I gather there's lots to see in this often forgotten area of the UK.. the Norfolk-Suffolk Aero museum, other castles and medieval priories, the Broads, the Norfolk coast and the most eastern place in England, not to mention a few towns with attractions that may of interest to some.
