Recently returned from a 1400 mile run to the ATDI in Madras, Oregon. We drove our TR250 on some spectacular roads but the temps were around 35/38 deg. A bit hot for me although the car performed fine except for a blown fuse on the horn. The main show was held on the ramp outside the hangar of the Erikson Collection, the largest collection of flying warbirds. TS1 was attending the event too. A few pictures from the event.

I'm curious if there were there any P-38 warbird planes there?

Thanks for the comments, it was certainly a fantastic location with free access to wander around the aircraft. The TR5 did belong to Ian Howard, I have spoken to him about seeing it, the car now lives in California. I have a few more pics of the warbirds and yes there was a P38, 'Tangerine'.

Hi Graeme

what is the mountain in the background- it looks very Volcano like?

Roger

Hi Roger,

The mountain behind our car is Mount Rainier, the Mustang has the Sister Mountains, North & South. The mountain behind the B17/TS1 is Mount Jefferson and Mount Hood behind the PV2 Harpoon. I believe they are all Volcanic.

Cheers

Graeme

Nice to see the Mustang with the Red Tail and a tribute to the fighting Ā Squadron force of Black Pilots who were revered by the Bomber squadrons on escort duty. Tom Cruse has one with Red tail at the end of Mission Impossible. Great pilots and left a few red faces in the upper USAAF !!!

Regards Harry (a fan of Red Tails)
