I recently changed the oil and filter on my TR5 using the usual GFE227 spin-on filter. Some 50 miles later the MoT inspector reported a minor oil leak from the filter joint area as an advisory. Further investigation revealed that the central thread in the base of the filter was at a slight angle to the centreline (or the base plate was slightly askew). The result was that the filter appeared to be tight but was slightly angled such that the rubber sealing ring was not evenly compressed. A replacement Mann filter with a thicker sealing ring has solved this unusual problem.

+1 For Mann filters I use them for everything, when I changed the airfilters from the usual suspects offerings to the Mann items there was a noticeable improvement in performance
