It is recommended to use the "Moss" Surrey glass seal

Request to Moss shows that as they are now all one company with Rimmer : any request for the seal would be sent out from Lincoln from Rimmer

There are clearly different manufacturers

Any ideas?

Hi Michael the consensus was to use a moss seal but as you’ve mentioned it’s all now amalgamated with rimmers so what quality of seal you’ll receive is anybody’s guess l fitted a back light kit to one of our group a while back and what l found helped was to fit the seal to the frame and leave for a week or two ( placing the joint to top middle) it was a faff to ease all the rubber into place and into the corners but the fitting of the glass in the end went fairly well including the trim .

This is going to be the problem now Im afraid, what I suggest is order it and then see how big it is when put round the glass. The Moss one always looks too long, this is correct and the extra must be located equally at each lower corner that way you dont end up with the usual gap that you can see through in the bottom corners. The Moss one is also autoclaved to give it the right shape. If the one that turns up isnt like this (Thats the Rimmer one) then send it back, you may have to do that a few times till you get the right one as everything from Moss went into the equivalent bin at Rimmers. Dont blame the parts guys they just pick whats in the bin.

Thank you

The significant information being  size 14 v generous fit not size 10 tight fit on the glass!

Know what to look for

Basically yes, also if getting a window fitter to fit it for you dont whatever you do let them cut and shut it to fit the glass tightly (Its been known to happen!)

Managed to get my Surrey top rear screen , following instructions from Stuart who I met at the Car fest in Malvern

Made considerably easier by the use of lubricant from a company you may know Durex

Thank you Stuart
