GavC Posted August 17 Report Posted August 17 I am at a bit of a crossroads with the rebuild of the tr4a. Should I refurb the original wheels and paint, fit 165 tyres or try and find a set on slightly wider Minilite versions or equivalent with 185 tyres or best alternative? reason also is that I dont have a good set of bumpers so was thinking running without for more of a sporty look. Appreciate your thoughts or if anyone has a set of larger wheels whats your best offer😁 Quote
RogerH Posted August 17 Report Posted August 17 The original 4.5" wheels look nice in body colour or some other crazy colour and will take the 165 nicely. The Minilite style wheels do look more sporty and will also take the 165 tyres. These look good and do fill the wheel arch nicely. If it was me I would strick with the original wheels and see how you get on with them. It is easy to change over at any time in the future. Roger Quote
John Morrison Posted August 17 Report Posted August 17 I’ve run without front and rear bumpers since 2012 on my TR 4 l love the look, lamp bar with a couple of spots and you’re good to go Jihn Quote
Malbaby Posted August 17 Report Posted August 17 I prefer the minilites in a 5" or 5.5" width...Wide tyres may look good, but the steering is degraded. Quote
YankeeTR Posted September 7 Report Posted September 7 Refurbish your OE wheels in your choice of colors AND buy a set on Minilites… best of both worlds! Quote
GavC Posted September 8 Author Report Posted September 8 (edited) Thanks for the replies, I am refurbing the originals, I cant see the sense in the extra cost to have a set of Minilites as well, its either 1 or the other. Edited September 8 by GavC Quote
