earckens Posted August 31 Report Posted August 31 On my 1964 TR4 I know of the following grease nipples: 1. rear wheel, each one 2. front wheels: 3 each (near the trunnion) 3. prop shaft: two on each end. This latest one I can grease the nipple right next to the drivetrain. However, the nipple at the front is near impossible to reach, and I cannot get my greasegun inserted. According to this Moss drawing that nipple should be a 45 degree angle. I am not sure it is, but I find it impossible for the moment to get my greasegun locked to it. Any suggestions please? Quote

I would only give 1/2 a stroke to the real wheel ones every couple of years or you`ll be forcing it out onto the rear drums, they dont need any more than that. Stuart. Quote

Stuart. Thanks Stuart. I am afraid I gave a little more then half a stroke. Time to open the rear wheel drums? 15 minutes ago, YankeeTR said: Get a flexible hose on your gun. Hopefully if its not been done for a lot of years you will get away with it, always good to have the drums off now and then though anyway. Stuart. Quote

Stuart. Never done in like ten years. Indeed a job for the end of year to-do list. Quote

BlueTR3A-5EKT Posted August 31 Report Posted August 31 (edited) Personal modification I drilled a hole in the steel transmission tunnel above where the sliding spline grease nipple is on the prop shaft. I have a 3/4” rubber plug pushed in the hole under the carpet. Edited August 31 by BlueTR3A-5EKT Quote

tim hunt Posted September 1 Report Posted September 1 May be a nipple on the water pump too - if it's original. Tim Quote
Z320 Posted September 1 Report Posted September 1 (edited) I reconditioned an original TR3 waterpump, which I bought some years ago by accident because of the pump housing. The bearings worked well, but when I opened it there was „no much“ grease in the bearings and pump. Not filled in by the producer and not by the owner 😂 Cleaned and greased they are refitted in one of my pumps Edited September 1 by Z320 Quote
