Dic Doretti Posted April 19 Report Posted April 19 The prototype Doretti owned and developed by Frank Rainbow, the designer of the car with the experimental chassis number SKD146-X7 is coming up for sale. This was the first prototype built in the summer of 1953, it was right hand drive and used to develop subsequent production cars while the second prototype was used to develop left hand drive cars and was given to Dorothy Deen the main importer of British sports cars on the west coast of the States. This unique car has not been on the road since the 1970s and every owner over the years is known. It has been partially restored, the engine, chassis, suspension and inner bodyshell have been rebuilt, although some years ago leaving outer aluminium body panels and interior to be attended to. Alan Gibb, that expert on all thing Doretti is handling the sale on behalf of the owner and the car is in Scotland. Cheers Richard Quote

Dic Doretti Posted April 22 Author Report Posted April 22 The sale is being handled by Alan Gibb who is well known in Swallow circles having owned a couple of Dorettis for over 40 years. Unfortunately Alan is old school and doesn't do IT although he loves to to talk on the phone, he has promised pictures but not sure when. Cheers Richard Quote
